Dear 3CSN Wayfinding Community,
As the end of this nearly indescribable semester approaches, we are right here with you in the productive struggle.
Our sessions this week will focus on providing space to think through final grading, presentations, and projects together. We will also offer much-needed space for mindfulness to support ourselves, each other, and our students. Our final Wayfinding session of the year will be an exciting spotlight on Grossmont College’s innovative Narrative Tutoring technique.
While this will be our last week of Wayfinding Online sessions for the semester, we will be busy working on some exciting professional learning for you in the New Year!
Join us in January for another amazing group of intensive Design Lab course prep sessions including:
- Building a Student-Centered Canvas Course
- Hello, Is it Me You’re Looking For?: Designing an ePortfolio-Centered Course
- Ungrading in (and after) a Pandemic
- We Can Do This: Learning and Teaching Online, through Crisis, and Beyond

Come learn about an innovative technique Grossmont College is using to support students…
Learning Assistance Spotlight
The “Narrative Tutoring” Technique
Niko Crumpton, Grossmont College
Supervisor of Learning Assistance
Friday, 12/11
3 PM to 4 PM
In this one-hour session, Grossmont College’s Supervisor of Learning Assistance, Niko Crumpton, will describe a strategy called, “Narrative Tutoring.” This is an educational technique adopted from medical doctors that use narratives to aid medical diagnosis. Peer educators will learn how to help the students tell their own story to learn where they’ve been and where they’re heading. You’ll build stronger connections and give more accurate advice when you know the student’s story. Participants are also invited to stay from 4:00pm – 4:30pm to further explore questions and applications.
