Advancing the Dialogue with Intentionally Designed Equity 101 Learning Communities
Tuesday, April 27th, 10 AM – 11:30 AM

Join Kiara Koenig and Katie Oesau (Yuba College) for this praxis session that will showcase examples and walk participants through creating Equity 101 style communities of practice tailored to the needs of a particular department, service area or college.

These tailored Communities of Practice (CoPs) make equity real and relevant to participants, while maintaining rigorous inquiry and building brave relationships.

Wednesdays – Practitioners in Community
Looking for ways to broaden your network and learn with others across the state?

Wednesday Practitioners in Community sessions invite you to be connected with others around specific areas of focus.

Humanizing Online Learning & Teaching
Friday, April 30th, 1 PM – 2 PM

Join Jessica Drawbond (LACCD Distance Education Coordinator and Associate Professor of English, Los Angeles Southwest College), for this workshop exploring why humanizing our online courses is important, especially from an equity standpoint. We’ll also hear directly from students about why personalizing the online learning experience and making human connections in online courses is important in helping them learn and feel motivated. Finally, we’ll discuss practical strategies for humanizing online teaching and learning.

Learning Assistance Hour

Peer Educator Power, Pt VI Growth Mindset & Learning Strategies
Friday, April 30th, 3 PM – 4 PM

Join 3CSN interns Fatima Mamdani and Grace Lewis as well as Roni Haj Hussein (Los Angeles Pierce College tutor) to explore how Carol Dweck’s “Growth Mindset” framework can be applied in peer-led learning to shift the focus from “getting answers” to strengthening study skills and learning strategies. This workshop is designed for peer educators (tutors, mentors, coaches, and SI leaders), but all are welcome! 

For a deeper dive, participants are also invited to stay for an optional discussion session from 4:00 to 4:30 to continue exploring these tools and their application.
