Finally! Canvas student names will match their preferred name.

A message from our Associate Vice-Chancellor, Betsy A. Regalado:

During the past year, the IT staff and I have received several inquiries about changing the student’s primary name on the Canvas shell to the preferred name. This email will serve as official notification that the Canvas file has been updated to send a student’s preferred name instead of a primary name.

This change in the Canvas business process will not remove the student’s primary, also known as legal name, from the student’s official school record in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions SIS or from the grade roster. Only the attendance roster and the Canvas shell will display the student’s preferred name.
